Orpington Alpha1 Driving school

Your driving lessons with Automatic Driving School

Alpha1 Drive School Progress Card

To start with, your first driving lesson will all, or mostly, in a car park. There you will set up the car so that you can operate the controls properly, and you will learn how you use the controls for eyes, hands and feet. You will then drive, starting, stopping and steering in the safety of the car park. Once when you are ready, will you be allowed to venture out onto a quiet road

At this initial driving lessons with Alpha1 Driving School, you will be given a personalised Progress Card which contains information about the items on the learning to drive syllabus, what you have learned, how well you have done, and what you will do next

In addition to syllabus items, other categories such as Fuelling, Satnav, action after accidents and Cruise Control are also included

The completion of your progress card will ensure you know exactly where you have reached in your driver training at all times. The marking relates to that used on your driving test, which means you will be accustomed to being judged, which will go some way to negating your Practical Driving Test nerves

During your driving lessons with Alpha1 Driving School you will be given very clear and concise instruction using the MSPSL format. (This system of car control is included on your progress card and is abbreviated version of the Metropolitan Police Advanced Driving School system)

An example of this, for instance, for a roundabout straight ahead might be:

    M - Mirrors - check middle and left (BOB - to be explained in your driving lesson) mirrors;

    S - Signals NONE;

    P - Position, Left (normal drive position);

    S - Speed c. 10mph (where appropriate) and gear (2 in manual and clutch up);

    L - Looks - RALAR and enter when clear.
