From October 2010, 10 minutes of
each practical test will be by
some form of 'Self Direction'.
This means candidates will be
asked to follow road signs or a
simple route described before
the test.
Alpha1
supports this change to the
test. "We have been
teaching our clients to 'self
direct' for many years - this is
because new drivers are prone to
having crashes once no-one is
there to direct them. They
have to learn to include safety
processes, and to time those
processes (eg MSPSL) within
their driving. We train
use of Satellite Navigation
systems that force pupils to
safely interpret and action
instructions. We train
drivers to be good and safe -
NOT JUST TO PASS A TEST" -
